Iniquity begins in the heart. You can’t see it with the naked eye, but you can feel it. Its presence is strong and convicting. But when ignored & unchecked, it can be a very dangerous thing. You might ask, “What is iniquity?” It’s hidden sin and Webster Dictionary describes it as the lack of righteousness, wickedness, and unjust acts.

Unfortunately, many professing Christians mess up here…even some of the strongest ones like teachers, preachers, and evangelists. From the smallest to the greatest, we have to acknowledge the presence of sin and conviction in our lives. Whether it’s thoughts of homosexuality, cheating or committing adultery, lying, stealing, hurting someone, slander, gossip, pornography, doing drugs, going somewhere you know you shouldn’t go, doing something you know personally or biblically is wrong, etc… it starts in the heart. And then it progresses in the mind, and if unchecked, these things can become active in our lives causing both spiritual and natural havoc! Consequently, on top of it all, people get hurt…including us.

Jesus says in Matthew 7:22-23, “Many will say to me on that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then I will profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”

As Christians, the Lord is serious about this very important matter. In the end, if our convictions continue to be ignored, unchecked, and we give into the temptations, we can be ensnared by the enemy…forever.

It’s not worth causing others to fall who are watching us, nor is it worth eternal hell. Food for thought this week…Check iniquity at the door and choose to cast down negative and unholy thoughts (2 Corinthians 10:5), and continue to live a pure and blameless life until Jesus returns. Hold onto your faith, and turn loose iniquity as soon as you sense its ugly presence. Also know this, if you have given into temptation and ignored your convictions, quickly repent and ask God’s forgiveness (1 John 1:9 – “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”) – Key word, “Confess.” Please don’t take His grace and mercy for granted. Remember, God sees us from the inside out (behind closed doors, after church, in our minds, home, and hearts), and everything that is done in the dark will be exposed by the light (Ephesians 5:13). So let’s be thankful that He loves us enough to show us who we are and can receive forgiveness and deliverance TODAY. Check it!

Remember, Jesus is coming back soon! And those who endure unto the end shall be saved. So let’s get ready from the Inside Out!
